These African catfishes make fanatistic tankmates for the larger community aquarium as they with grow on average to about 6 inches. They are peaceful, elegant and playful making them entertaining to watch.
Like all catfishes these are bottom dwellers which scavenge food from the bottom of the aquarium. The golden rule on all fish is that if another fish is small enough to fit into anothers mouth, thats where it will end up. Therefore I would not recommend keeping neon sized fish with synos because they will slowly disappear.
Synos are noctural and you will see them most active when the aquarium lights go out.
Synodontis species are best fed on a variety of foods, I have found them do best with a variety of sinking pellets and frozen shrimps, but they will eat just about anything.
Included with the syno catfishes section I have also added some others with similar characteristics such as Pictus catfish which are members of the Pimellodella family from South America.
