The Garra species are renowned for their cleaning abilities, in particular the Spa Doctor Fish. They will eat anything from any surface including people's feet. In the aquarium they make excellent algae eaters.

I wasn't going to have an "Algae Eaters" category on this site, because there are many fish which eat algae in other categories like: catfish, loaches and others who will eat algae. However, I have included them in this section for the novice. Being in the cyprindae family they should be in the barb or shark category.

Other great algae eaters are all the suckermouth catfish species.

Coming from Southern Europe to Asia they thrive in a wide pH ranging from 6.5-7.5.
