The Spotted Headstander is an unusual species by the strange downward position of its body. Most headstanders tend to nip fins of guppies and other long finned fish, but the Spotted Headstander is less likely to do this.
Coming from South America they prefer slightly acidic water so we suggest pH range 6-7 with a medium hardness.
An omnivore, The Spotted Headstander will any almost any foods including hair algae! I always use them in tanks with lots of plants and wood to control hair algae, which they love to eat.
Ideal tank mates include: * Passive Cichlids * Rainbowfish * Platies * Mollies * Swordtails * Barbs * Gouramis * Small Danios * Loaches * Plecos * Scavenger Catfish of similar size
